Inverter Vela 105 – (NO Trigger, ErmesSub-Compatible) with Stainless Steel Accessories
This model has been developed to be fast and easy to handle, making it particularly suitable for quick and instinctive shots.
3D Model for Speargun and Handle
Designed for engraving on exotic hardwoods such as teak, iroko, and mahogany.
Included files are provided in both .STEP and .STL formats for accessories, which can be 3D printed or CNC-machined using plastic materials like Delrin.
Included DXF Projects
Among the various DXF files, you will find:
- Ballast slot covers
- Rubber tensioners with reel (see photos)
- Muzzle accessories
- Handle plates
- Butt plates
All DXF files are accompanied by technical drawings in PDF format, including instructions and dimensions for sheet metal bending and other machining processes.
Also included are DXF and PDF files for the pulley carriage, which can be made via stainless steel laser cutting or CNC milling from carbon fiber.
The DXF files are also suitable for CNC cutting from flat carbon fiber s if a bend-free design is preferred.
Speargun Machining
The 3D model is designed specifically for engraving on hardwoods.
It is recommended to use 3- or 4-flute bits designed for wood.
Using general-purpose bits, or those designed for metal or plastic, may result in chipping or imperfections.
With a 105 cm shaft stroke, this speargun is suitable for all types of spearfishing, including ambush hunting.
Important Note – ErmesSub Trigger Compatibility
The speargun is compatible with two ErmesSub trigger systems: Swings Double Roll and Future, including the more compact Future Double Roll.
Although the project was initially designed for the LDpro3D trigger system, the external dimensions are highly compatible with ErmesSub triggers as well.
As shown in the photos, structural compatibility is excellent.
Installing the ErmesSub Swings or Future systems requires only minor, non-invasive modifications that do not significantly alter the original design.
If you opt to use the LDpro3D trigger system, we strongly recommend purchasing the full set of files to ensure proper assembly and operation of the mechanism.
Important Note – Wood Preparation
The speargun body is particularly slim.
We recommend using a lightweight laminated blank with Okoumé strips to reduce weight and maintain proper buoyancy, preventing the speargun from sinking.
Use hardwoods such as teak, iroko, or mahogany for the central and lateral strips (the width of the central strip should match the distance between the pulley housings on the muzzle).
Inverter System and Performance
The reduction system increases power, range, and speed by extending the shaft stroke and boosting acceleration.
The Vela inverter system reduces recoil by up to 100%, delivering extremely stable and precise shots.
The pulley system doubles the shaft’s exit speed while reducing stress on the rubber bands.
Recommended configurations:
- 2 pairs of large-diameter rubbers (17.5 – 19 mm)
- Or 3 pairs of medium-diameter rubbers (15 – 16 mm)
The rubbers are mounted under the barrel, while the Dyneema shooting line runs on top, improving handling and tracking speed.
To further reduce bulk, we recommend using the Croco block (included in the DXF files) with integrated reel , along with the "x6" reduction block, also included.
Handle Finishing
Once engraved, the speargun is ready for assembly.
The only manual step required:
Sanding and shaping the grip saddle in the glued area (highlighted in pink in the photos). This area is left unshaped to allow each to customize it to their hand.
Three handle sizes are included (small, medium, large).
The handle can also be engraved on plastic materials such as Delrin or glass-filled nylon. In that case:
- Do not use epoxy resins
- Use D4-class polyurethane adhesives for optimal bonding
- Sand the plastic surfaces before gluing
