3D model description
1981 Fujimi Senna Kart Upgrade Kit
3D printed parts to more realistically represent the correct kart used in th 1980's.
Parts can be used on the Fujimi 1993 Kart kit too.
Parts upgraded:
1. Fuel Bottle & Lid
This can be used as a direct replacement to the kit part, however the steering column can also be modified by the modeller to represent the actual kart.
1mm brass rods were used in the example shown with the pieces of the kit steering column.
Exhaust bracket
This part fits perfectly between the exhaust and the rear bumber bar - very thin wire can be rolled to represent springs as shown in the example displayed
Carburetor
The period motors did not have a front mount carb as per the kit parts, but a side mounted carb.
This part can be mounted to the side of the existing engine part.
A 1mm brass rod was used to pin the part for better stability.
Cut the front mounted carb off of the kit engine part.
Brake Caliper & T-Piece
2 x round parts used to represent the piece of the brake caliper visible on the side of the frame.
T-Piece connector drilled out with 0.4/0.5mm drill and 0.3mm fishing line used to represent the brake lines.
Front Bumper Tabs/Mount points
Glue these to the frame after aligning with the front bumper bar to represent the mounting tabs for the front bracket.
Tie Rod Ends
Carefully glue these to the end of 0.5mm brass rod to represent the tie rods.
Modifications need to be made to the kit frame to remove the molded steering parts.
Front Wheel Spindles (axles)
Carefully cut away the molded kit part in order to glue these which have been designed to replicate the ones used on the 1981 Kart.
These make a huge improvement to the model, and can be used on the 1993 kit aswell to really increase the detail of the finished kit.
The shaft should be trimmed by a few mm in order for the wheel rims to fit snuggly
Front Wheel Bolts
This should be used with the Front Wheel Spindles, and inserted into the front wheel rims from the outside to represent the other part of the shaft with the wheel nut showing.
These can also be trimmed by a few mm to be inserted deep enough.
Steering Wheel - 2 options
Specifically for the 1981 kit, the kit part has a molded block to resemble a lap/rev counter which did not exist then.
Removing this from the kit part might prove to be difficult and cause damage to the part.
Included is a redesign with this lap/rev counter removed.
Depending on layer lines when printing, you may prefer to use the flat version which looks better and makes very little difference to the final result.
Please Note, some modifications to kit parts are needed for some of these parts, and other modifications to the kit frame is required in order to replicate the model shown.
